3 weeks

is a long time to have NO daycare. Luckily, my parents were able to stay with us for the past 3 weeks to babysit Isaac while we worked.
My parents took Isaac to the zoo, to the play area in the mall, out to eat, to the kids museum and on the boat. They had a great time. They danced a lot in the living room, and took Isaac in his pool outside. He would make my parents go in the pool with him and say "papa..shoes off....grandma...shoes off."
Isaac was sick at the beginning of the vist. He luckily he got over that quickly. He had a high fever but that was pretty much it.
My poor parents did get in a car accident too. That was a bit scary for everyone! They were hit on their way home from Walmart. Their car was totally wrecked. Isaac was perfectly fine. Thank God for car seats. My parents were a bit sore for sometime...I think they are still sore. They could not drive their car home, it had to be sent to Chicago and they drove a rental home. We are very lucky that no one was seriously hurt.
I will try to post more soon, I got to run. I am addicted to Teen Mom on MTV! :)

Since 1983 when we first moved to North Dakota, we have made numerous trips back to Chicago for holidays and special occasions. All those trips were challenging at times due to snow and ice storms, but we managed to make them with little fanfare!!
This trip was definately different. The accident happened two weeks ago and we finally have our car at the BMW shop here in Indiana. It has to be repaired mechanically before the body repairs can be made.
We cannot begin to tell you our feelings when we had to tell our children that Isaac was in a serious accident while he was on our watch. Grandparents are not supposed to tell their children these kind of things.
On the positive side, Isaac was not hurt, just scared and he cried a little.
I think the best part of our visit occurred while we were taking care of Isaac while Mandy and Devin were spending the weekend at the lake. We had Isaac all to ourselves and I had the privledge of giving Isaac a bath. I managed to sneak in a few washcloths of water on his head along with a little bit of shampoo. At first he said NO PAPA NO! but I managed to distract him playing with toys and sound effects (He's good at doing sound effects by himself). Next came the rinse. I knew he would go banana's if I laid him down completely when I watched Mandy and Devin do this so I used the washcloth to rinse as much as possible, then one quick lay down and we were done!
I felt total victory and I was surprized at how he trusted me. Maybe not complete trust, but thats ok considering how much he hates his hair washed.
The worst part is always having to say goodby. Even though this trip was a real challenge because of the accident, I thank God we had the chance to be there with all of them. We are looking forward to his birthday when we can celebrate Isaac's second birthday here. We show pictures of him to everyone we can.
