Stories that make me smile

This morning I was running late for work as usual. I was looking in the fridge for my pop and Isaac was trying to open the drawer in the fridge. He was pulling the drawer and saying apple. He would even use the sign for apple too. I did not have time to get an apple ready for him. So I tried to give him a cookie or milk. He then looked at me and rubbed his belly (sign for please) and said "pees, pees." Ok...my heart is melting. So I scream for Devin to get in the kitchen and help this poor child so I can race to work. How could we deny this kid after he asked so nicely!

Devin always takes Isaac to daycare in the mornings. Today he was walking to get into the day care house. Ikie could hear my daycare lady's daughter playing piano. He started to scream and ran into the room where she was playing piano. My daycare lady said "Isaac, come say good bye to your dad." Isaac screamed "no." Devin looked into the piano room and Isaac was in there dancing by himself.

He is starting to give me tons of kisses. I ask him to give me a kiss and he puckers out his lips and say "MmmWah."

He is also able to point to his eyes, ears, head, hair, feet, legs, belly button, and tongue when asked.

He tries to copy the big kids at daycare. The kids were jumping on the trampoline. I put Ikie on the trampoline and he would jump when I would tell him too. He would bounce and laugh and had a huge smile on his face. He noticed that the kids had their shoes off. He sat down and pulled on his shoes saying "off, off." He did not give up until he had the shoes off just like the other kids.

Who Would Have Thought It????

A topic that comes up a lot in this house is Ikie's clothes. GASP! Yes, Isaac's clothing....this topic comes up from Devin and not me. It is driving me crazy! Devin gets so worked up about what this kid is wearing everyday. Devin is usually the man that has nothing to do with shopping, decorating, or picking out clothes. He would much rather be on the golf course or doing pretty much anything else for that matter.

So everyday, I get this lecture that Isaac's outfit.."just doesn't look right" or I get told that he is wearing flood pants. You know, pants that are too short. It is not that I want Isaac to look bad but finding clothes that fit him is a bit of a challenge. He is so skinny and short. He only weighs 23 pounds and can't even fit in 18 month old clothes. I have to roll the waiste down because the pants will fall off him if I don't.

Now Devin doesn't totally get my point in regards to these clothing challenges. He feels that I am too sad with Isaac getting bigger and therefore want to make him small again by keeping him in smaller clothes. That is totally insane....I am prepared and acutally do realize that our child is growing! Gulp!!!! :) Devin says that I lay out all of the clothes that are too small and make him reminisce about each piece of clothing with me before I put the non-fitting items in a tub in the basement. Does that sound at all like me? OK....maybe a little?

Isaac's bruise

Isaac has a massive bruise on his forehead. This bruise took place under my husband's watch. Yes, Devin's watch and not mine. See, for those that don't know what goes on in my house, this is a shocking event because Devin is so cautious.....way more cautious then me....or so he thinks. Devin tells me that Isaac was hiding behind our library table. Devin yelled in one of Isaac's toys..trying to play with him. This startled Ikie and he ran right into my big heavy table. Causing a pretty big bruise. Devin said that his cry was preceeded by 35 seconds of him holding his breath, then he actually cried! Poor kid.
This is Isaac's second major accident or bruise. His other "event" happened in January/2010. He was climbing the stair, and I could not get to him in time and he fell down about 3-4 stairs. I screamed...probably did not help matters much and Devin came running to see what happened. Devin was upset that it happened...first bruise...was mad at me that I "wasn't watching closely."
So in summary, these bruises are going to happen on anyones watch and they are hard on mommy's and daddy's.

"All Done"

If you have not been able to tell from many of my posts.....I love to eat out. However, I am sad to say I have been defeated. Yes defeated....by a one year old. It just isn't worth it any longer. Isaac just isn't ready. We are at a restaurant for no longer then 3 minutes before Isaac looks at us and holds out his hands stating "all done." He doesn't care if we try to occupy him with food and drinks. He just wants to run around the restaurant and raise hell.
We went to Chili's last night and it was 40 minutes of misery. I was so ready for some ribs, beer and some time with Devin too! Isaac would not sit in his high chair. He did not want the food we ordered for him. He was climbing all over me, trying to climb on the table, telling us to "go." I finally got a few minutes of rest when he decided to harass the beautiful 20 something year old behind me. I know I should have stopped him but hey......I needed to eat. The girl that Isaac decided to flirt with was so cute. She would smile at Isaac and he would smile and then put his shoulder to his cheek. Isaac's flirting was definately cute but he did not want to leave the poor girl alone. I would try to get him to turn around and he would yell at me and tell me "no, no." So we will be saving some money in the months to come by not eating out!
